October 2013 ended with near normal precipitation after several soaking rain events ended the month. 1.31″ fell on the 24th and 25th, followed by 1.60″ on the 29th and 30th, and more inclement weather is on the way. A cold front pushing off the US East coast today is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms for Sunday. Showers should begin ahead of the cold front in the warm sector as warm humid air converges on its approach to the front. However, overnight on Sunday the cold front should pass bringing the main showers and thunderstorms. Behind the front, expect near-gale force winds with gale force gusts as a strong high pressure builds in behind the front. The building high pressure will also help to clear away any lingering post-frontal showers. Expect cooler, less humid weather for the start of next week.
